And then there was Suzuran, who techically I did first. Suzuran's route was the most mind-bogglingly awful thing I've read in quite some time, to the point where I had to stop, go back, and try another girl to see if they were all this terrible because it was retroactively making me dislike the game because of it. Straight up bafflingly terrible. It can't be that the writers hated her because her arc and character were pretty solid and consistent up till this point. Maybe even good. And she gets this godawful Frankenstein monstrosity of a route of stiched-together bullshit asspull nonsense that raises more and more questions the more I try to think about it. The most bizarre part of it all is that the rules of the place they're in change drastically (for the better) in Nana's route. If the culprit is multiple writers then they clearly had both carte blanche to do whatever, and were under no obligations to ever talk to one another about what they were doing. Also they got the janitor to write it and he'd been locked in the supply closet with ammonia fumes for too long. Holy fuck. Nothing made any goddamn sense, and on top of that they kind of forgot that you're supposed to be a couple at this point also? So no decent ichaicha as compensation either.

Christ. I keep trying to remember the good points of the whole vn but then this route's utter bugfuck insanity worms its way into my head instead. The proverbial dog turd in an otherwise delicious sandwich: yeah the sandwich is great but it's pretty fucking hard to ignore the turd in it. And that's the worst part, I think, and also why I'm so butthurt I'm writing this novel-sized review. It's that even in that clusterfuck there were still good parts, moments of fun and joy, but only just enough to remind me of what the rest of it was like instead of the cocktwaddle I'm being served.

God damn. That route almost ruined the whole thing for me. If anyone else reads this, which isn't necessarily a bad idea since it's still a pretty solid urban fantasy, stay the fuck away from Suzuran. I know she's a cutie but it's not worth it.
