She's fast because she has a rocket powered magical broom. Realistically tho, a rocket powered magical broom isn't so useful, at least if you're not insane and actually care about turning and stupid things like handling and your own life expectancy. Marisa is entirely too crazy for her own good.

While Marisa's magical rocket is fast, Aya is Fast. Mach-3-in-two-seconds Fast. I-can-take-photo-of-myself Fast. Aya can probably talk to two people at each side of Gensokyo simultaneously without them suspecting anything because she does the travel two hundred times per second. Probably did it once or two too.
