It seemed to be a reoccurring theme as of late, Hana wakes up, eats breakfast, Aunn and her give each other a peak on the cheek before running off to their chores, and one of Gensokyo’s many hags bamboozles Hana. Today’s hag was Eirin it seemed, the silver haired doctor who always maintained a stoic air around her patients. Her patient? Today that was none other than the miko-in-training Hana Hakurei.

Hana laid down in a well-appointed office, a light yet aromatic incense burned in a nearby holder making Hana subconsciously say a prayer to a god of health. Old habits died hard she supposed, then again it was her job… well whatever. The sofa she lay on was a curious thing, it was soft and nicely padded as befitting ownership by a woman like Eirin. However, one end of the sofa was raised in a way that allowed one to both sit and recline comfortably.

Its design was nothing like she’d see in the village nor even out of it, that wasn’t to mention the appointments of the rest of the office. Unlike most of the other rooms she’d been in here this one was especially decorated nicely, it seemed designed to bring someone to a state of tranquility. From the pastel walls, to the landscape paintings, and painted sculptures of abstract design that decorated the shelving and tables of the room.

Eirin herself sat in a well made padded chair, like one she would often see Marisa study tomes in, or even Yuuka sip tea in and make conversation that one time she visited. It’s upholstery matched the sofa she sat on, and its occupant sat with one leg draped over the other while holding a pad and pen. Eirin’s very body language seemed to disarm, Hana thought idly that she was truly good at her job.

Finally, after letting Hana settle in after offering her a snack and beverage, which Hana declined, Eirin dismissed Undonge leaving the two of them alone. The pad flipped open, but Eirin didn’t put pen to paper just yet and instead gave a small smile. It was a bit awkward to Hana since she’d rarely seen her smile and had a feeling nothing good would happen, still she persisted.

Eirin broke the silence after Hana seemed to settle in, “Now Hana, I trust you find the accommodations adequate? This is may merely be a preliminary session, but it is important you remain comfortable and honest.”

Hana nodded unable to keep the confusion out of her voice, “Yeah I’m fine, thank you doctor… But, I don’t exactly know why I’m here, you said it was therapy right? Err… what exactly for?”

Hana couldn’t help but notice the soft edge to her voice, almost motherly perhaps in her approach, “It is for your Electra Complex that became apparent to me during our last little visit, do you know what that is?”

Hana did remember that term being used, but everything happening as they did she never had the time to follow through in finding out what exactly it was, “No, is that an outsider word? It sounds like it.”

Eirin nodded, “that’s right, it is a term coined by the outside world psychologists in their attempts to master the human mind.”

Hana nodded along at the big words and thought the whole thing sounded a bit dangerous which Eirin took as a go-ahead, “Of course, your life is yours to live and while such relationships are common enough among humans and even lunarians, repressing or having such relationships denied can lead to neuroticism. Such negative stressors building up will lead to erratic behavior over time and its all too common for humans to simply let them overtake the mind causing any number of mental illness to develop. I aim to treat the underlying stressors so you may retain a healthy mind no matter the outcome of the emotions spawned of your Electra Complex.”

Furrowing her brow Hana tried processing the information, “So err… If I keep accumulating bad thoughts it’ll form an uh… youkai in my head or something…?”

Eirin stared at her for a moment and Hana could swear she was stifling a laugh, this bitch… However, Eirin merely nodded and with the same gentle tone she continued, “Quite an apt comparison, you are very sharp Hakurei-san!”

Much like usual when dealing with non-human hags Hana was already regretting coming, but if it showed on her face Eirin didn’t care, “Of course, if you feel uncomfortable we can stop at any time, but I will warn you that leaving the problem unresolved will only affect you and the target of this complex negatively”

Hana nodded warily and wanting to get this over with she exclaimed, “I get it, I get it! Just what is an Electra Complex anyways?!”

With placating words Eirin spoke as if she was talking about nothing more than the weather, “Last you were here, your ramblings as I tracked you down made it apparent that you are deeply in love with your father and harbor a deep seated regret over it.”

Hana wanted to bury herself in a hole, where was one of Tewi’s pitfalls when you need it?

Just a short one for now, spent too long doing shit and now I rest
