Meakashi is my personal favorite Higurashi arc since it's the first time we get an in-depth view of Shion's thoughts and feelings. Her character turned out to be a lot more nuanced and intricate as I first expected.
By experiencing her journey you slowly get to understand her better and, even if you like Mion, Satoko and Rika, by the end of it you can't help but feel that they deserved what they got for dragging Shion through the mud.
