Wrong, Inori suffers the most from her past with abuse where she cannot even function when someone outside of the polaris group talks with her. and it was this inital meeting that made Keitarou so obsessed with befriending Inori, as shown in the classroom Keitarou doesn't understand what being a friend means he just sees it as chatting them up and saying they're friends on social media and in person. Keitarou takes a personal liking to Inori BECAUSE she is something he's never had to deal with before and slowly begins to like her. the other Polaris members would've just kept being cold to him and he would've kept trying to befriend them until Kururu came along and diverted his attention from those kids onto her since that was her plan since the beginning alongside learning more about what their parents plan on doing to their group. If he hadn't personally met Inori then he would've never gone to the polaris festivel and truly come to understand them. So yes she is vital to Keitarous character development and his actual efforts to understand and befriend polaris
