I've never read a VN in Japanese when an English translation was available, so I'm afraid I can't answer most of the questions.

However, if a game doesn't get proper treatment for its translation, the experience might not be as good for the reader, I'd imagine. I'm going to have to read Family Project in Japanese one day to test this theory though.

For the fourth question, the answer is yes, since I want to see more people talk about games I played, as mentioned by some other people in this thread.
