I once heard a literary discussion about "Alice in Wonderland" and what really kept reappearing was the theme of "there is no love in wonderland"
Interestingly, this is true for the touhou-universe too: most relationships are based on hierarchical positions within the society (mostly chosen voluntarily). I don't read too much into that but it IS interesting fodder for thoughts....
