You were restless and made no real attempts to hide it, Kasen's company was pleasant and even if the teasing left you a bit uncomfortable there wasn't much you could do about it considering she was also the women that sponge bathed you and ensured your sanitation until you could move enough to take care of it yourself. Kasen didn't miss your hurry to recover and although she didn't mention it yet since any deep talks with you up till this point due to the drug you had to take to keep from the pain eating you would render it pointless until you finally were able to stop taking it. Still just because you're thoughts were clouded didn't mean you missed the faces she made when you'd mention Reimu in conversation. Kasen didn't comment on it however but you could see the concern on her face, how her next comments seemed to be careful, and most importantly how when she did say Reimu's name it was with disappointment and resentment.
Time ticked away and your strength recovered, speed up greatly by the medicine but according to Kasen you recovered faster then all but the more optimistic time tables that Eirin set forth, although your knee and broken arm were still mending it wouldn't be long at all till they come off and you were at this time entirely off the pain meds with the only thing you were taking was that mysterious drug that helped your bones and joints rejoin. You had to admit living with Kasen was a very pleasant life, and aside from her teasing you with asking you if you needed help in the bath still she was as respectable as you remembered her and when she wasn't trying to be fussy and lecture you she was a wonderful women, not that you received much lecturing. The only time she bothered lecturing you was when you tried too hard to help her, trying to cook her meals, take her plates, feed her animals, clean the grounds, and all the other things ingrained into your body over the time you've lived as Reimu's househusband. There were many negatives too like how you sometimes flinched as she lectured you when she moved too suddenly, though you did try your best not too your body expected the pain you couldn't help but start raising your good arm to block the beatings you've grown accustomed too. The pity in her eyes that halted lectures only added onto to the shame you felt from not being able to control your own body's instinct even though you knew logically that Kasen wasn't like that despite being an oni in disguise. Eventually she stopped lecturing you too hard seeing how restless you got being served by other and didn't make any mentions of it when you took to the kitchen on instinct to make her tea, snacks, or dusted the building since as long as it was light duties it wouldn't interfere in your recovery.
Kasen was just finishing todays training and you were ready for her with a damp towel in hand, tea chilled on the table and some protein heavy snacks, she was still a bit awkward about it clearly not used to being pampered and took her seat on the cushion. Honestly neither of you had much to chat about given that you haven't gone out much in recent times and Kasen wasn't as easily chatty about the small things she encountered outside but you still made talk in the end asking whats been happening in the village or among your friends so time passed pleasantly enough. Eventually it seems Kasen who got lost in the pleasant conversation and snacks and in a matter of factly voice states, "You know I got a message from Eirin saying that in three days your casts should be coming off so i'll be bringing you to her then". With the thoughts of the future coming up it seemed to snap you out of the comfy relaxation, It seems it snapped Kasen out of it too as the mood shifted into a slightly tense atmosphere unique to those that have to contemplate something uniquely unpleasant and out of your mouth came a simple, "Ah I suppose it is about time to leave...". You did want to leave, still worried about Reimu as you were but both of you knew you had nightmares of that day where she brutalized you then left you to die in the mud and the many days before where she took out her anger on you, and although you knew you'd walk right into that shrine again alone and apologize for your absence you also knew that you simply may not walk out again and Kasen seemed to know that too.
Brooding in the silence that befell you both you managed to say at length, "I... I still love her you know? I still love her deeply and think about her often but I am scared... You know that in recent times she's grown more and more paranoid about things? This one time she even accused me of two timing her with Marisa after she came over for tea. I can imagine well what she'd say when she finds out my whereabouts for the past three weeks." To that Kasen didn't say much, couldn't really with only that face of sorrow coming over her again and she took your hand with both of hers as tears began forming for the first time you've been here.
