I don't think I'd bother. Windows 7 shouldn't be as resource heavy, has a few time saving features (that also look good) and won't overload you with alerts. People who have done clean installs seem able to do it without a hitch, but upgrading on top of Vista has been problematic for some. On the other hand all your settings should migrate nicely if the upgrade works. Personally I find the biggest hassle of a new OS is getting all those setting done the way I'm used to. But because I only switch every few years I always forget half of what I had done with the previous OS and how to do them again.
