I like the Yuuka that's so old she's a bit detached from reality, and considers everything she does a bit of light teasing, but has a really, really morbid sense of humor. I also like to think that she's mostly safe so long as you treat her and her flowers with respect and she's in a good mood. As an aside, I wonder what the nature of her strength is?

She's said to be one of the strongest youkai, but is it due to her mastery of flowers? Her age? Physical strength? What? In what way is she strong? It's almost frustratingly nonspecific.

I also like to blend her PC-98 canon with her Windows canon, but it seeems like a good many people do that anyways.

By taking quotes out of context, the meaning can be scrambled.
Let's post the full exchange, shall we?

Yuuka: "My, what a cute fairy."
Cirno: "Ehehe~ you think so?"
Yuuka: "The sunflowers here are all looking at you,
enough to want to turn you into a specimen."
Cirno: "Now that you mention it...
I kinda do feel like the sunflowers are looking this way."
Yuuka: "They are. That's because you're like the sun. "
Cirno: "Stop lying to me.
I'm an ice fairy. There's no way I can be the sun. "
Yuuka: "The flowers here are extremely sensitive to trespassers.
I want it to be more quiet myself,
that's why I'm having these sunflowers watch over."
Cirno: "I don't really get it...
but I'm getting kinda scared."
Yuuka: "You know that we use the saying, "make a beehive out of someone",
when we want to mean "completely screw someone up".
But a beehive has bees, and bees might attack in defense.
That's why I'd like to say,
"make a sunflower out of someone".
A sunflower with all those seeds packed does look quite like a beehive,
and you've got many shells shoved in too."
Cirno: "Hiii~
Maybe I shouldn't have come here."
Yuuka: "Now, my cute sunflowers!
Have that fairy join your ranks!"

It takes a while of being very alone and hidden away from reality but eventually you'll come to a threshold where you can convince yourself that because you've been alone and without for so long that surely when you die you'll be rewarded with living forever in your dream world. Whether it be Gensokyo or a setting from your favorite anime, manga, story, or video game. Drugs can help speed up the process too but usually just long term despair is enough to make you delusional.
