He discovered that he had an incurable genetic disease back in 2019 so he was in and out of hospital a lot since then. He was just discharged earlier this year. He's pretty genki so the footage of his sickbed were shocking to us. He battled his disease as if he was battling a wrestler in the ring, he never let up and tried to be active throughout his hospitalization. He even let NHK do a documentary about him when he was in hospital, it was aired last year. He was pretty active this year despite his dwindling health, I was glad to see him open a new talent agency and have new plans for the future. It's sad to see him go.

Sorry for the overflowing sentiments. Inoki (along with Beat Takeshi and Oshii Mamoru) was one of the Japanese people who influenced me from a very young age, I feel sad seeing him leaving us.
