They're playable characters. Whatever they do, they'll get hate simply because someone tried playing them... I mean playing WITH them, failed to do so, and started disliking them.
Or because someone wants PC-98 girls to come back, and blame them for taking all the light.

Sanae and Aya, however, are often called "sluts". Sanae, because she became playable soon after appearing, and Aya because she has two games where she's the only heroine.
There was even a minor meme, something like "Aya fucked ZUN to have her own game", if I remember right.

Honestly, I'm sure those two get more hate than Reimu or Marisa. Even MoF's zombie Reimu. Even if Reimu is often depicted as a trigger-happy alpha bitch (I blame YAF for that) with some Dalek DNA.


The funny part is that, despite the fact that she got a whole game for herself, with sum gud art, I haven't seen a single "Cirno is a slut" post.
