When you get her liking you, you find out just how much she enjoys intimate contact of the non-sexual kind. That means that unfortunately, Ran is a hugger. Unfortunate, because your face becomes intimately familiar with her breasts. Pressed into her chest any time she feels like it. Worse, she's aware of exactly what effect her body has on you, and she playfully teases you every single time. Even if you know she won't hurt you, your instincts kick in when a youkai presses her teeth into your throat. Calling her a vampire leads to punishment.

The love of intimacy isn't just cuddles. You go anywhere with Ran, and she wants to hold your hand. Sometimes she won't even let you walk without an arm draped across your shoulder, holding you close. She insists it's to keep you safe. Though you cannot avoid noticing the prideful look on her face every time she sees another fox. And, strangely enough, Yukari. She's extra keen to hug and kiss you when that woman is in view.

You sit together, and her tails find a way around you. Always at least one, often more. It's an unconscious reaction following the subconscious urge to keep you very close. When she notices, she rests her head against yours, letting you feel her silky fox ears. They move around, sometimes doing nothing more than listening to your breathing. Other times, you're not even allowed to sit by yourself. You're required to sit on her lap and let her rest her chin on your shoulder. Arms and tails slithering around you to hold you tight into her softness with a very insistent force. Sometimes sitting on her lap encourages Chen to sit on yours. Chen, at least, is quite light. It's amazing how long Ran can sit with you and do nothing. Or at least, do nothing until Yukari has another errand for her to run. You get the feeling she really enjoys the moments of peace and quiet between jobs, though if you ask what she's thinking half the time you get some outrageously complex maths problem she was doing in her head for fun.

If you're tired, you are always encouraged to rest your head on Ran's lap, where she'll stroke all over your head or clean your ears while her tails cover you in a fluffy blanket. The hypnotic rhythm of her fingers running so very lightly over your skin easily puts you into a deep sleep. Most times you wake up, and you're still on her lap, Ran still stroking your head, humming away perhaps and just waiting for you to wake up again. Others, you wake up having been carried off to bed so carefully you never even noticed yourself move. A few times, it is her who is tired and wants to sleep in your lap. Those are a rare few times. Her stamina is as powerful as her strength, and it takes an exceptional day for her to be so exhausted she needs a nap... or sometimes she just feels like getting pampered. You get to watch her sleep on you, body twitching faintly, half-expressions twitching across her face as she rests in your lap.

At night, you have two options. You can sleep with her wrapped around your front and holding your head into her chest, or you can sleep with her wrapped around your back and resting her face into your back. Sleeping by yourself is not permitted. Attempting to wriggle out, even when she's fast asleep, makes her tighten her grip firmer and firmer. You cannot overpower an ancient youkai in raw strength, and you cannot escape her grip. You must get used to sleeping with bare skin to barre skin contact. At least on cold nights all her fluff is very, very warm.

Ran is considered to be in a taller tier of 2hus according to ZUN, there by making her hug more enveloping. Her appearances in the official manga and background sprites in recent fighting games show her to have a large bosom as well. This would of course be double-padded in clothed layers of her white dress and blue tabard, with large, flowing wizard-like sleeves wrapped around you. Then, her tails: the size of Ran's tails have varied from multiple appearances, but they all seem long enough to be physically involved in the hugging. And beyond the physical, imagine how much soap/shampoo her tails are capable of soaking in. Her womanly aroma would be incredibly dense and inescapable at this range. I think Ran is the clear winner.

Do you think fetishism is an inherent part of otaku culture? I don't really mean to seem like I'm complaining but there always seems to be lots of treads about various fetishes populating the board. Foot fetish, giantism fetish, those ran-kanako milf or incest or whatever threads, butts and anuses, crossdressing, crossdressing as dolls, ryona, and so on, all getting hundreds of posts.

A lot of media, even non ero, seem to pick some fetish and run with it too, like all the characters will be lolis, or all the characters will be lesbians, or all the characters will have tits bigger than their torsos, things like that that would barely affect the media if it were made with different types of characters.

Is it in the otaku nature to have a/several strong fetish/es?
