I think that Hanyuu being an alien demon parasite thing is what causes the hs to manifest in the first place which is why she keeps apologising to everyone when they reach L5. Basically people with the syndrome become "demons" but being mere mortals can't handle it, obviously. Haniryuuuun correctly thinks this is her fault for crashing on onigafuchi all those years ago and bringing the parasytes with her.
Now since in Gou Hanyuu appears to not exist, there is no "magic" or demon alien super parasytes of doom, it's all actually Her/Featherine trolling Rika in order to force her to spawn Bernkastel, by repeating the June of 1983 without any syndrome this time around. It's all Featherine trolling this time. People are going insane on their own.
