Also, I always notice Parsee images being used as generic "elf" images. I wonder how many people come in contact with Touhou images and never know where they are from.

Well according to the wikia (and the KamS video) she guarded a bridge and made sure people who crossed it to reach the underworld (meet with the dead) made it there and back safe. But because of her jealousy she could not stand people being happy while she got nothing out of it so she made it hard for people to cross the bridge and thus making it, if we consider soundtrack titles canon, the bridge people no longer cross.
