The rules are actually simple, each player takes a tile and discards one each turn, the goal is to form a hand with 4 sets and 1 pair.
A set is formed with 3 tiles that contain consecutive numbers:
1,2,3 or 2,3,4 or 7,8,9 of the same kind

or with 3 identical tiles
example hand contain:

the 4 sets:
1-2-3 bamboo
5-5-5 dots
2-3-4 numbers
5-5-5 tiles

and a pair, any pair would do.
if you have an incomplete combination like 1-2 bamboo and a player discards a 3 bamboo you can take the tile, showing the other 2 tiles in yor hand, this is a "chi" but your hand loses points and you announce what kind of hand you're going for, you can also complete your hand with a discarded tile.
