It makes me sad that you interpreted like that anon. Her mother did love her, it was just stress outbursts that Rosa had because she's human, Maria though, is also human, so she chose to use magic and keep herself happy, so she could tank Rosa's outbursts and try to let her mama live a good life. This way both of them would be happy and wouldnt need to part.
Maria herself told you, if saw from outside, anyone would think they have problems, but to her this wasnt as bad, even Ange noted this, that she couldnt understand why Maria would say she was having a good life and a happy time.
