I believe some classic folktales are in order.

>There once was a farmer who lived in the countryside next to a river.
>On his land, he grew several vegetables, such as cucumbers, corn, and the like.
>At the end of every month, he would thank the land that produced his crops by sending the best cucumber in his harvest adrift in the river.
>The kappas would thank the farmer for his generous gift by offering him wine, fish, and other such delicacies.
>However, a local fisherman heard about this story, and in his greed attempted to invoke the ritual for himself.

>A month went by, and on that very day, before the kind farmer performed his monthly ritual, the fisherman got out to the river on his boat, and offered the kappas a gift of his own.
>No more than five minutes passed before a kappa appeared before the fisherman, angry at the gift bestowed upon her.
>“Is this supposed to be a joke!?” the kappa shouted in anger at the fisherman.
>The fisherman was confused at first, but was nonetheless resolute in his desire, and said, “I have given you your gift, and I demand compensation.”
>In disgust, the kappa threw the gift given to her back at the fisherman. It was large, grotesque, slimy and squishy as it squirmed on the ground.

>It was a sea cucumber.

>The fisherman looked at the kappa with a condescending look.
>"Well," he began,
>"I suppose Kappas are very picky about their cucumbers."
>Angry at his insult, the kappa then dragged the greedy fisherman underwater, where he was never seen again.

>Until five days later, where he was seen floating in the same river.
>Dead.
>Naked.
>With an anal contusion.
