You got a point. Haven't thought about it much, but yeah - AWACS aren't exactly monstrous fighters.

Though I suppose realistically, whether it's been publicly unveiled or not AWACS probably are capable of fending for themselves to much greater extent than assumed, if nothing else with pretty extensive countermeasures. It just doesn't make sense to build something that vital and valuable only to leave it a sitting duck.
