A combo of speed uppers, herbs, and hermes blood is what I've used for my pets. Speed uppers/herbs is the main treatment while hermes blood is nice when I can afford it.

Speed has its own potential although it's hidden from view until you get the glasses of Yacatect. The bad news is that speed potential isn't restored like other attributes when it visits its trainer. It is only restored through sleep, certain foods, and speed upper potions. Speed upper potions are the best way to restore speed potential and the good news is that speed upper potions give you one speed and instantly put speed speed potential to 400%/max. Speed upper potions can be found in random dungeons occasionally and you can buy them from Stoke using music tickets.

If you manage to keep speed potential high and feed your pets curarias or even better, herbed in curarias, you should see steady increases in speed leveling like any other attribute. Hermes blood are nice when you can get them because they're even more potent when used by a pet than a player. One blessed hermes blood can give a pet an additional 20 speed.
