And I like it that way. Gensokyo is meant to be a world secluded away from the modern human world. They shouldn't know too much about our society, that'd spoil the esoteric nature of the whole place. Some do have experience with the outside world such as Sanae and Yukari, but not many others do.

On the other hand, most 2hus behave like teenage girls, so it's inevitable that they'll gravitate towards some equivalent of a cell phone at some point.
