The reality is that Japs look exactly like Koreans and vice versa and would be completely undistinguishable if they don't overdose themselves with cosmetics and makeup.
Hell, they are even genetically the same group. Go take a look at a group of Korean sportsmen then a group of Japanese ones (sportsmen being usually unlikely to use cosmetics) and you won't be able to tell them apart.
