Why does Fate/Extra get so much undeserved hate?

Extra is all about the character interactions, and the R/P/S is a reference to how all Nasu fights are like that. For example Emya > Gilgamesh, but Gilgamesh > Alexander, and perhaps Alexander > Emiya. Powers tend to work based on compatibility unless you're just an all around type like Saber's are supposed to be.

The plot in the original game was a little barebones (You wake up in a school with no memories and you'd better murder everybody who crosses your path to buy another week of life; despite knowing you're probably going to fade into nothingness at the end of it anyway) but it had an interesting lore, and CCC improved upon everything to the point that Nasu was proud to call it the final in the Fate series and the last one he would work on. If you didn't like the first game you might not care for CCC still, but shit actually has some real intrigue and plot going on now rather than a tournament style set up where you learn about and then fight a new servant each week.

1) The Servant farewell, the high point because it meant the maturity of not relying on them anymore (wasn't this the climax of Fate route with Saber and Shirou and UBW route with Archer and Rin? The scenes even had mirror-names).
2) The salvation of a loved one who has been ignored and the heroic sacrifice of another who has been misunderstood in previous occassions (Ilya-Sakura*, Black Sakura-White Sakura. The Servant farewells were already explored in FSN- CCC compresses them).

Even if the world building was bad the story and mostly the characters are still great
