Horror rose in the stressed miko’s mind, after all, if Yukari was making this much of a point about it then...! She couldn’t let father hate her anymore, not after she did those t-things to him, she’s been avoiding him desperately, and if he complains about her to Marisa during their visits then she’d talk to Sanae thenSanaewouldtalkto-

Hana tried to focus, but she couldn’t help but feel her head throbbing and world spinning. She was breathing harder now, but Yukari didn’t relent, “Now now~ Hana dear, do tell me what you were sneaking into your father’s room for, I’m so curious to know~” Yukari seemed to giggle at Hana as she let her demand sink in.

Yukari took a step forward, Hana hit the wall, Yukari took another step forward, and another. She seemed to loom over Hana, only an arm’s reach away now. Those deep violet abysses seemed to burn with something that scared Hana deeply. The polished surface of Yukari’s ornate fan stopped at her collarbone, where it pressed in uncomfortably. The fan traveled up her neck and to the tip of her chin. It was more than the chill that made her shiver as Yukari lifted her chin and forced Hana to look her in the eyes.

Hana felt her arms grow slack, her head felt airy and it was like things were spinning. Hana breathed in deeply, trying to clear her mind. Yukari beat her to the punch with a single word, “Speak”

Okay so the short version: This is a spinoff of the OGHanafic which is a spinoff of another fanfic. You see in the OGHanafic, the story takes place in the 'future' of the Touhou timeline. Reimu had gotten married to an outsider called Anon and gave birth to a daughter, Hana. But Reimu's abusive behavior caused her now teenage daughter to flee the shrine with her father in tow. The HSE splits off from here. Yukari captures Anon, rapes him, and forces him to live and work in a one-man-brothel which is all part of an elaborate plan she has, seriously. The impact of this causes tremors that might shake the entire foundation of Gensokyo.

You see, it's all very simple and wholesome.

There was some missing piece of the puzzle, something she’d have to find before any hope of a rescue could be mounted… but what? The sheer amount of information confused Hana, there was seemingly no end to the spells and minor barriers interwoven into that malicious piece of defense. Eventually however, Hana found… something… that caught her attention.

The first thing she found; an alteration of the temporal spell that made time move in strange ways inside the barrier. It wasn’t like the one she found before, nor like the one on the great barrier itself. It was conditional and seemed to trigger upon being either it or another piece of the elaborate defenses being altered. It was terrifying in how potent was, able to slow down time inside its area entirely… It seemed embedded into the barrier itself, and not attached to any one point aside from maybe the torii gate. Though she couldn’t be sure.

The second was something more malicious, it seemed primed to extend to the outside of the barrier. Though she couldn’t tell exactly what it would do nor how long of a reach it had, yet she did know it would be potent. Hana tried to read the spell that was interwoven into it but it was little use, it was different than Maria’s spells of pure firepower. It wasn’t like a mishmash of differing and competing elements used to create powerful damage nor even the concentration of one or two to produce effects when sieved through finer mechanisms like she was taught.

It seemed to not invoke any of the base elements that she knew, instead it seemed to do the opposite, it seemed to drain the elements used against and around it. Would it depower the magics used around it? Maybe, but it didn’t feel like some kind of antimagic field exactly. It was something closer to the seals she used sans the divine blessings, something was made to remove the foundation of magics itself… She didn’t like it at all.

The third thing she found was something… something… something mesmerizing. If the barriers and spells her senses were flooded with were flyers raining down around her like last weeks Bunbunmaru into the garbage heap this was more like the glittering of silver under a majestic sunset.

Before she realized it Hana was reading the make up the spell, it was a simple thing. Its only purpose to be read and attract attention, the only way it could be activated was to read it. It was inefficient and impractical in every sense of the word, Hana reread the spell just to be sure. Once again, she reached the same conclusion, pointless except to attract attention. It wasn’t even potent; it didn’t use nor emit that much power and could easily be halted by the right safeguards.

As if plucking a leaf that fell through the air Hana focused on reading that spell again, it was way too simple and there must be more to it. This spell… it could easily be the key to unraveling this damned place, it could be a cipher or maybe even call upon some other sort of program meant to control sections of the barrier.

‘Yes, that must be it!’ Hana thought, ‘It must be something so vital that I’m just missing the trees for the forest!’ Hana felt as if she was struck by a bolt of lighting as she read and reread the lines of magical syntax all flowing together like a masterwork poem. Hana let the other spells and barriers fall by the wayside as she hyper focused on the words and symbols that made up this strange spell.

Her ‘eyes’ were starting to feel heavy, her mind was growing foggy, all the spells but that shiny and eye-catching spell faded away. Hana read the spell one last time as her consciousness faded, regret filled her as the last bastion of conscious thought that she was just so close to the truth. So close to figuring out the riddle that could save her father.
