Oh, it's definitely possible.

It's just that we've got a long way to go before we can be able to mobilize the community for any kind of project.

Part of it also is that /jp/ as a board exists for entertainment. No one really comes here specifically looking to work on a project. The people who are working on doujin titles and translation projects as we speak found them elsewhere, specifically in communities geared towards recruiting.

I mean, just try posting a recruitment thread on /jp/. Threads here are just fodder for entertainment and knowing that people respond accordingly. If the same thread was posted on another website it would be taken more seriously, not because of the content of the thread so much as the idea the people have of the place it's being posted.

tl;dr People would have to take recruitment on /jp/ more seriously and to do that, change how they feel about that aspect of /jp/.
