No, Archer's just that BAD ASSED and GAR. Not only does he get stabbed by his past self, he gets multiple swords rained down and through him, BUT he comes back to put the coup de grace on Gil. Plus, the Independent Action clause. Even if his spiritual core is significantly damaged, Archer can still move about for two days after his master dies or gets stabbed a lot.

As to WHY he died in Fate?

Plot device, lol.

That, and he was still RIN'S servant.

You don't actually get to see Archer's badassedness UNTIL he breaks away from Rin.

Fate- we know what happens.

UBW- None of it starts until after he breaks the contract with Rin via Caster and the Rule Breaker.
