Something that desperate people seek which has no value until you are blinded by it. Which may or not be beautiful since it is a subjective viewpoint to only a person who has love.

It's also the reason why Takano fell in love with him.
Love has no real reason but it really does, it's just complicated.
She loved Tomitake, who is unfunny, has no personality, somewhat fat, unimposing and boring, because she was too dedicated in her work and never had any trace of womanhood or any direct connection.

So having a bit of bullshit fun taking pictures with a guy was enough to ''fall in love'' with him.
Also look at teenage girls who experience first love. That's what happened with Takano.
Both parties are shit in their quest for love.

However, it does not mean they do no love each other. No one can deny they might actually truly love each other.
I'm just cynical about it.

That's what I love about Ryukishi.
He can go on and on about how beautiful love really is. Yet he can cast a real doubtful eye on love itself without painting love as being pure or stupid, which is exactly how love really is.

This particular poem is how I think Ryukishi sees love.
Love is an illusion, a misunderstanding.
Mutual love is a mutual misunderstanding of being mutually loved.
And engagement is a vow to not wake up for your whole life from that misunderstanding.
