Unless otherwise specified, we all play using the included netplay feature. It's tough to diagnose the issue you're having without a little more info. Possibilities include:

-Your game isn't up to date. The current version for Soku is 1.03. You can download it from:

-You're selecting IPs that are no longer hosting
-You're selecting IPs that are currently in matches, but because you don't read moonrunes you don't know this. If after inputting the IP you get a "Yes/No" choice, that means someone joined before you did and you may spectate if you so desire.
-You're inputting the IP incorrectly. Copy the entire thing to your clipboard, including the ":XXXXX", and choose the option two slots above "Exit". Option 5 in the 2nd image in the attached image (this is from SWR, but nothing has changed in Soku)
-If you're using ZoneAlarm as a firewall, make sure it's set to allow Soku to access the network and the internet.

Easiest way is to copy and IP and port to your clipboard and choose option 4. This pick is from 10.5, but the order hasn't changed, so it still applies.

You're looking to host or join? If join, just copy an IP:port you see that's hosting and follow this handy-dandy chart. It's from SWR, but everything was kept the same in Hisoutensoku, so it still works.

If you're looking to host, things get a little more interesting. First, are you behind a router? If no, just host and tell everyone your IP:port (you can find out what your IP is at whatismyip.com. SWR/Hisoutensoku's default port is 10800, but you can change that every time you host). If yes, you have to set up a static IP within your network and forward a port of your choice (again, default 10800) to that static IP. You can learn how to do this at portforward.com.

I did my best to match you by changing characters, but my Suwako's utter crap and the rest of my characters seem to have too much of an edge for an even match. You really need to work on your defense. More blocking/grazing. Keep playing, it'll come with time.

Depends on whether you want to host or join. If you want to host and you're behind a router you have to forward a port of your choice (default 10800) to your computer which has to be using a static IP, then select option 1 in Vs. Network. To learn how to do set up a port forward and a static IP, visit portforwad.com and look up your router number and OS. This is obviously impossible if you're not in charge of your network (for example if you live in a dorm). If you just want to join a match, copy the IP to your clipboard and selection option 4 in Vs. Network. No network configuration is necessary for this. Pic related (technically it's for SWR 1.06, but the order and meanings haven't changed).

When the occasional thread does pop up, SWR threads don't die so easily in most cases. You also always have the IRC channel at #swr on the mizuumi network if no one is playing on /jp/.
