Matarajins lore is all over the place I can't tell what's fact or some random blogger going nuts. Though I always liked to think it was because she was an older god, and since being hidden away probably means she doesn't have a lot of worshippers so she's not as physically strong hence needing the wheelchair.
The only hole in this headcanon is that iirc Matarajin was worshipped under different names so she could have followers, they just don't know her as Matarajin.
