>highest spec
kek
"the highest spec" JAV VR is the 8K stuff that just started dropping a few weeks ago. it's far and few, and still not being ripped right.

VR JAV ripped from DMM/from the usual places is all the same and has been since like 2019 - 4096x2048 60 FPS AVC/H.264. a smartphone from 2016 SD820 or newer can play it with no effort. the only other file you might encounter is stuff from Afesta - and it's still 2048p60, just HEVC/H.265. a smartphone from 2017 (SD835) can play it, kek.

the quest 3 can definitely handle 8K60, and it's a standalone headset, so it's all on its chipset. your computer should only be serving files to it, you could use a Pi if you wanted

if you use something older/computer tethered like the HP Reverb, Samsung Odyssey+, etc. - then your GPU does matter and you'd want to consider upgrading

for 8K on AMD: Navi2 or newer (6600 minimum, I think the 6500 is missing part of the video ASIC. 5700/Navi can only do 8K HEVC up to 24FPS, 6K60, 4K90-120 depending on the codec)
nVIDIA 8K: I believe GTX 1660 onwards for nVIDIA? so 2060, 2080, onwards can all handle it.
I'm pretty sure Intel's integrated GPUs have been able to do 8K60 for a while now as well!

for reference, I have a fucking dinosaur with a 3770K, but there's an AMD RX5700 in there. can play 6K60 just fine to my Odyssey+

you're welcome!
>IEMs
oh man, I haven't even considered this. the hell with chifi, I have some GOOD ones too!
it might not be as fantastic as you think, sometimes the audio can be pretty shit, so listening with something more resolving will only expose more flaws in the recording...
the "powered by AKG" bullshit headphones built into my Odyssey+ have been more than immersive enough plus they're kind of necessary to ensure fit, my head too fkn big
