anon, if you saw someone who just entered a gym for the first time loading 45's into a squat rack and going "aight this looks easy, might as well start at 250" would you go:

rethorical but the point is, your technique, stamina, speed, etc all go up as you go, they will never be lower than when you start and while you can force things to a degree, the "losing motivation" thing is your body saying you are overdoing it and burning out.
you have to do enough that doing it feels fun and stimulating and constructive, too much is as bad as too little, doing a little less now doesn't mean doing less forever, you will naturally feel like.doing more as you become faster/better/things click.

if you get tired of it and say fuck it, your progress becomes 0. you have to find a way to do things you can keep up for, well, probably not ever, but a while.
