The bad reputation affected mostly Comiket goers (Miyazaki belonged to a circle there, but allegedly no one could stand him) and to a lesser extent horror and tokusatsu fans, since he was in possession of lots of Ultraman tapes and Guinea Pig movies

Huge blowback on Comiket and doujin mangas depicting naked minors, which contribued to Comiket being driven out of Makuhari Messe in 1991 after new regulations were enacted, and move to Tokyo Big Sight after risking complete cancellation.

Sort of an urban legend, but during the same year of the murders, Comiket was also presented on Japanese news as a "gathering of 100,000 Tsutomu Miyazaki", to this day many swear to have heard that sentence but don't know who said or on what program.

At any rate, yellow press had a field day bashing Comiket for a long time afterward.
