True Neutral is fine as a support character because they're generally up for helping out their friends and empowering them to achieve their goals even if they don't want much for themselves. I haven't seen it done as badly as CN - maybe more blandly, but at least they're not an active contrarian loner who has no reason to ever join an adventuring party.
