Well, Rika's motivations are justified, I agree that Satoko's actions are extreme. But there must be something else right? Without love it cannot be seen, so I think there's something more.

Yes, i agree. But the WTC series is already well constructed, so its complexity can be appreciated. How are the characters aside from Satoko butchered?
