It's acknowledged that Bern changed her appearance somehow in ep5 itself, with a reference to her having received her hair from Bern.

Still, later on R07 just seemed to completely throw away all of this and pretend he never wrote any of this.

Maybe because the design he made for Erika and all later redesigns following it didn't really look like Bern? Still, it's kind of annoying when there's an entire episode where she keeps getting called Bern's double and then he ignores it afterwards.

I mean, it's not like I'm taking the faceless manga flashback by itself. There are several lines were Bern references Erika as her double and this one outright saying her blue hair was granted by Bern. The fact the manga portrayed her real life self in a partially vague way just adds up to that.
