A series of danmaku shooting games made by one guy under the name ZUN. He is worshiped as a God on many image boards who view his work as some of the best shit ever.

Basically the game involves you flying around as a loli dodging bullets of many a color (blood red, royal blue, cum bubble white, etc.) while laying the beat down on other lolis who want to destroy you for their own personal gain. Usually.

Touhou is popular mainly because of the HUGE amount of fan works and shit other people put out for it, doujins, fan games, and even a trading card game. Tons of inside jokes revolve around the series and charicters and a lot of it is frowned upon outside the small circle of fans by people calling players and fans of the game "pedophiles" and "touhoutards" /a/ and /v/ boards on 4chan say they hate it but only because the majority of them suck nuts at it.

There is a Touhou Wiki and a deticated Touhou image board on Wakachan.

So, back when I babysat my catgirl, sometimes the topic of silly hats would come up, and I'd tell her that her hat is not silly (her hat is green or something and she's 10), and she'd insist that her hat was silly because it had frills like mine and Yukari's, which are fluffier. So, I'd tell her that she wouldn't have a silly hat until she wore a hat that was enormous to cover her huge ears like mine (seriously my foxears are huge), and she'd try to tell me that my hat isn't silly.

So, I'd lift up her shirt, and rub her stomach, squeeze her armpits, tickle her ears, etc, and say that her hat is perfectly normal. It was awesome, because I could grope her lovely DFC as well, and it would come off as completely innocent and unintended, and she wouldn't even flick her tails. One time her skirt was loose enough that it fell a bit, and I started playing with the elastic band on her bloomers. That time she stopped me, though and just said "Oh Ran-sama!".
