I've really enjoyed Akiko Shikata for almost a decade so far. I honestly thought I didn't like music at all before I heard her work on the Ar Tonelico series. I then dug around for the rest of her stuff and feel in love with that too. It's just a shame that she seems to have a pretty unique style, though.

She's worked on anime too. Once a friend of mine was streaming Umineko to a bunch of internet friends and I for some ungodly reason and I realize listening to the OP that it was her singing even without prior knowledge she worked on it. She also did the soundtrack for Cross Ange but I'm... not keen on looking into that.

I do wish she would stop with the Japanese concept album stuff and go back to being odd. Catra was pretty great, but that was a while ago.

Saw some stuff that made it sound like it was going to have a constructed language in it which is always a plus.

Shikata's recent albums have been a little underwhelming since Istoria ~Kalliope~ and some parts of Laylania
