If what was ZUN thought was the only thing that mattered, Touhou would be a steaming pile of shit. All the characters would be bland, badly drawn characters with meat tubes for limbs.

It's the fandom that matters in Touhou, which is why it's so successful. The fandom is what creates the multitudes of doujins, the anime, the music, the fan art, and so on.

Just because you don't have the talent, creativity, or motivation to create fan extrapolations of ZUNs work does not mean you have any place judging what is "correct" and what is not.

ZUN makes the characters; He gives them to us to do with them as we may.
