My father has asked me since I was a teenager if I've got any girlfriends, or girls I'm interested in. I've always told him no, to both questions. He probably thought I was gay, so the question subtly changed from "any girls" to "anyone". I still answered "no".

I'm 24 right now. My dad jokingly brings up the subject again, and I tell him I actually do have feelings for a girl right now. He's half shocked for a second, then smiles and asks if I'm pulling his leg. I tell him I'm serious, and that I actually do like a girl right now. So he pats my back and asks who the lucky girl is.

I say her name, and he scratches his chin for a second before asking me to repeat myself. I tell him again, and he responds with "do I know her?"

I shake my head, because there would be no way he knows her. So I decide to pull up a picture from my computer for him. At first he laughs and pats my back, when he sees that I'm not laughing, he kills off his own laughter and noticeably does that "eh..ahaha..um..." thing that people do in an awkward situation. He pats my back, says "good luck, boy" and turns away to walk back to the living room.

Have you told your family about your waifu yet? How did they react?
