(1/1)

I heard it right, but still, it was like a dizzying punch to the throat. I finally recovered myself from the hacking cough, and, with some words to appease Anon in the kitchen, I sat down with Aya again, her eyes carrying a certain uneasiness. "How did that happen?" Anon is always very serious about taking his anti-fertility meds; how the hell could this happen?!

Aya smiled awkwardly. "You see, I, uh, messed up the pills the day we did it and got him a... fertility increaser?" She became even redder; I, however, wearily groaned as I massaged the tip of my nose. "I-I know, it's unbecoming of me, but—"

"That's not the ONLY problem, Aya: those pills are tailor-made for Yukari—they're potent." Something shone in Aya's eyes—a story, perhaps? "They'll always override an anti-fertility pill, but none of the anti-fertility pills can override it—Yukari does that with her gaps. Ugh."

It took Aya a moment to realize the innuendos, yet soon her face was a mirror of mine. Since Yukari didn't gap the effects of the ultra fertility pill Anon took, it means the effect lasted for another 12 hours after Aya's session—regulated to the Shrine's slowed down time, 48 hours. Great.

No wonder Eirin tried to give me a pregnancy pamphlet earlier today.

"I'm so sorry..." Aya whispered, about to cry, but I stopped her, gathering my strength with a deep breath.

"It was a mistake, right?" I stare straight into her eyes, promising a world of pain if I were to detect even a hint of lying. She frantically nodded, unconsciously holding her belly. "The headache, gee... We'll deal with that later—if I recall, your species lay eggs, right? You should still be able to continue demanding physical activity—because I'll need your help, Aya." Her embarrassed facial expression gave way to curiosity. "You must have already noticed, but I don't want Anon locked here too—and yes, I do love him too." Curiosity turned to utter surprise, and, wow, already a hint of challenge? "But that doesn't matter," I stressed. "His safety and freedom are my primary goals; mine—and yours—feelings come only after he is a free man, you understand?"

Aya had the common sense of looking embarrassed before nodding again.

"The alliance to get him out consists of me, Toutetsu Yuuma, Okina, the residents of the Moriya Shrine, and now, you—non-officially, Marisa and Hana too, but that's beside the point." Her eyes bulged a little; that's the effect of knowing you have a goddess by your side. "I keep things running here and Anon safe and happy; Toutetsu is spying and she, Okina, and the Shrine are preparing to rescue him—now, about your role in it—"

"Tea for the ladies!" Anon came into the room and sat by me, smiling wide—it's good to have friends—and placed a tray of tea and a bowl of fried tofu on the table, an everlasting smile burning on my face: It eludes me how he prepares fried tofu, but it tastes like heaven. He picks one with a toothpick and, as tradition, feeds me it—if Chen were here, she'd feed him one, and I one to Chen.

Aya just stared.

"So, what conspiracies were you talking about?"

"Overthrowing Yukari," I say, munching.

"Ah. The usual."

Aya kept staring.

"I was about to discuss Aya's role in this, too, and—unlike Toutetsu—I doubt she'd argue with Okina putting a door on her."

Aya finally snaps, but it's a confused whimper; "H-Huh?"

"You're going to be our new spy to free Toutetsu of the burden of espionage, so Okina will have better uses for Toutetsu's abilities."

"N-No, what's that about a 'door'?" She whispers a soft thank you as Anon fills her teacup for her.

"It's Okina's power: she'll place a backdoor—like a gap—on your back, and it'll be easier to transverse in and out of the Land of the Backdoor, which means better information control—and no, we cannot use that backdoor to get Anon out of here. Not only will the barrier immediately notify Yukari about it if it leaves the state of inactivity, but it'll also activate a kappa switch that will entirely stop time inside the shrine—you'd be dead and buried without even noticing." How the kappa managed to recreate Sakuya's time stop in a controlled environment is beyond me, but it's there, and we need it gone before even attempting to get Anon out of here.

A bit overwhelmed by all the information, Aya just nods along, eating fried tofu. "Yukari thought about everything, huh?—Nitori’s help would be wonderful…”

I nod, continuing. "I hope that, unburdened by espionage, Toutetsu can eat the kappa switch—but until then—" A self-imposed magic ping echoes in my mind, telling me Aya's session is over. "Time for you to leave, Aya—Yukari comes after your session is done."

"O-Oh! Of course, ah... Sorry again for not being direct about the, uh, pill, Anon!" The man simply smiles and hugs her, the girl blushing to no end. Is she really in her 1000s?

"No worries—just make sure to visit again, Aya!"

"I-I will!"

I bemusedly giggle, which Anon follows—she's like a teenager in love. Adorable.
