bern's more 'depressed low-energy rika for a few episodes before suddenly swerving into cackling villain as the plot demands', lambda's random antics at least fit with her character as it was initially displayed, and she had the decency to make her shift from cackling villain to helpful friend look more like a character arc instead of changing entirely on a dime
plus lambda's more fun, you could actually be buddies with her, bern's too busy being edgy to actually be friends with people
