I hear ya bro.
It's the character development in Classic Tsunderes that make them more appealing.
Modern Tsunderes never try to learn from their mistakes, do not admit and accept their feelings like Classics do.

Going through their initially stubborn phase to make them like you, if playing something as a goshujin or someone you can identify, is the appeal of Classics. Nowadays though Moderns seem to appeal because they are shy, childish and stubborn throughout the relationship up until the end. I've preferred characters that actually mature throughout stories though, so I'm a bit biased towards Classics.
