While Christianism paints itself as a religion of mercy and salvation, on the practice most Christians believe a lot of people (maybe even most people) will spend eternity being tortured in hell.

Buddhism has Ksitigarbha (Jizou in Japan, that bald stone guy besides most roads). He got enlightened, but instead leaving the worlds' suffering, he decided to stay around on HELL and assist people there to reach enlightment. He will stay there until EVERYBODY reaches enlightment. Devils included.

So, yeah. Christianity has nothing on this guy. If you're considering letting in some kind of higher power into your heart, consider the teachings of people who actually understand what's mercy.
