My sister and I are going to Japan next year through an exchange program, but I'm kind of nervous.

We'll be going to school there and I want to make friends... but is Japan one of the many countries that hates Americans? What do they think of us? Any suggestions on social behavior/manners?

Also, are there any places we should definitely visit? (Or avoid?) Recommendations for delicious food or awesome vidya games?

I need to learn more about it before I go, so of course this is the first place I came for advice. Don't fail me now, /jp/!
