Yeah. I've tried to do that with EN vtubers and while some of them are entertaining I do miss the pre-covid era. Nijisanji comes close sometimes, but I usually just have them playing in background while I do work or chores. Hololive is a daytime TV drama my gaming friends banter about and the indie scene is drama and middle-aged men trying to fuck mentally ill teenage women. Pre-recorded content is coming back but everyone is invested in streams.

I feel like vtubing was treated like a wet cotton rag, if you wring and wring it tightly enough you will warp the fabric in a way that cannot be fixed.
