good afternoon, /jp/. being the incredibly erudite (if you do not understand this word you should use google) and talented individuals you all are, i have decided that we should discuss japanese cinema, and while i understand that most children here make a decision to stay in their comfort zones and watch kawaii anime ad nauseum (this is a phrase borrowed from latin. if you do not understand what it means you should use google), i am certain at least one or two people here would respect japanese culture beyond its cartoons. thus, i think we'll all find it lovely to discuss the works of esteemed japanese director akira kurosawa, whom equally esteemed american director john ford has called a genius. what is your favorite kurosawa film. for me, it's pic related.

of course, if you have never heard of kurosawa's name before, that's cool as well. after all, it's not like i'm judging your lack of exposure to cinematic or japanese culture or anything (despite the fact that this is your main passion). after all, whether or not you act like christian weston chandler (you should use google if you are unfamiliar with this person's name), creator of sonichu, is none of my concern. whether or not you fail at life and amount to absolutely nothing, that's not my concern either. whether or not you have zero talent (being physically unfit, socially marginalized, and intellectually lacking), zero virtues, and zero potential is not my concern as well. it's all your business. competition is bad for me, see, because it means i have to try harder. getting into princeton would've been much harder for me if you'd've applied yourself in life and applied to a school of such esteem instead of the community college to which you currently reside. (if not community, then special ed) therefore, i'd thank you for being mediocre, and wish you a good life, now and forever :)))

I wasn't sure whether or not to post this here or in /tv/, but I figured you guys might know more about the subject.
Could anyone recommend me a good recent (last 10 years or so) Japanese film to watch? Whenever I look for Japanese films, the bulk of the ones considered to be really good are quite old, and I'd like to see how Japanese cinema has progressed.

Thanks a bunch, guys.
