Because you can get a theraphy to become a real boy without going to Gensokyo. If you started when the picture was made, a decade ago, you'd be a boy already. Besides, I don't think people still believe in the old method of going to Gensokyo. Moreso, for a truly depressed person, even as a boy, it's still too difficult to do as much as perform the Gensokyo magic. I think there's an anthem about a group of people searching for Gensokyo for 2000 years.
