Note how Bern and Lambda still look and act kind of like kids. I have a bit of a theory here - they're "Voyager" witches, they go from Kakera to Kakera. But, do we ever get the impression they've travelled much in time?

Maybe Bern and Lambda are like that because in reality, Rika is still stuck in a loop, but a different one, from the end of Higurashi until 1998. Having never seen history really passed, their minds never adjust to the idea of living for thousands of years which seems no problem for Virgilia and the demons(who have presumably existed since Biblical times).
