Not in the way anons talking about it. He didn't do more collabs because he felt bad for Meiro, he debuted specifically as a host/moderator, likely because that's what he's good at, and then that became a cornerstone of her channel pretty much since the start. What he did say about Meiro and by extension Mirei's ex was relating to her feeling of getting flamed and talking about his own experiences, and while I can't recall specifically what he said, I don't think he talked about her in reference to collabs; if anything he'd have brought up the fact that he got flamed so much because he started with collabs and people were mad like they were a certain flamer dragon that collabs are worthless, and had a springboard to make that argument into a reality because it was also just a bad collab to begin with.

But it's been a while since I saw the stream in question, has to have been at least a month, though I don't see why he'd feel guilt and start doing something when he was already doing it more than half a year before she even debuted.

Not really sure why people keep talking about him in a way like he just recently got redeemed, since it's been closer to a year than not. Then again, I know just as well as anyone whose been around the block things from years ago can feel like mere months so I can't really blame you. As someone whose been mostly an outsider to his career it feels like the burning was just an unfortunate footnote turned into his own favor while also making good friends with his co-workers, which is really the best thing you can ever do with a bad situation.
