i think i figure out why people think mariri looks crazy. she has mild hypertropia and also opens her eyes fairly wide when getting her picture taken, this reveals the sclera above one iris but below the other one, and is a very uncommon sight.
it not only causes sanpaku, which signals anger, hypertropia itself can sometimes (among other things) signal mental disorders or brain disease
